Olympic Athletes Need Non-Surgical Orthopedic Care Too
August 13, 2021
Olympians, their teams and their trainers/coaches will be watching carefully to ensure athletes stay healthy throughout the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Even though they are participating in sport at the highest level, we the novices and hometown, weekend athletes alike, need non-surgical orthopedic care just the same.
Athletes and active people like you and me must be aware of their bodies at all times, which means being cognizant of the periods they’re most likely to get hurt. Looking back at the Beijing Games in 2008, nearly 75% of the injuries were incurred during competition. That still means more than 25% of them happened in training or in everyday life. The Games in London were a more even split between incurring injuries during training or competition.
Injuries involving overuse are the most common and comprise a majority of what we see here at Chattanooga Non-Surgical Orthopedics. We see overuse injuries including everything from tendinitis to shin splints. Symptoms are typically swelling, soreness and pain. Treatment for those issues involve a number of options at our clinic, which Dr. Hall will personally prescribe on a patient-by-patient basis.
Athletes competing on the Olympic level know their bodies, what they’re capable of, and their limits. Most of us non-olympians don’t often know when we are pushing too hard. That’s why our team at Chattanooga Non-Surgical Orthopedics takes the time to not only correct and help repair injuries without surgery, but also to help each of our patients understand their physical limitations and how to strengthen and protect their joints.
We offer Olympic-sized care for every walk of life, whether it’s walking, playing highschool sports, biking, stretching or even competing in the Olympics at the highest level, Chattanooga Non-Surgical Orthopedics is at the ready to help you reach your goals when it comes to non-surgical orthopedic health!
