Hip and Lower Back Pain When Sitting and Standing

Low back pain and hip pain

If you’ve been sheltered in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, you’ve likely spent more time sitting than before and perhaps you’ve noticed a bit of pain when standing.

Hip pain is a common complaint that can be caused by a wide variety of underlying issues. The precise location of your hip pain can provide valuable clues about the cause. Many of us sit as we work, stand to move about, and then sit again. It seems absolutely normal and a regular part of the day, but over time, and with age, the simple can become painful.

Problems within the hip joint itself tend to result in pain on the inside of your hip or your groin. Hip pain on the outside of your hip, upper thigh or outer buttock is usually caused by muscles, ligaments, tendons and other soft tissues surrounding your hip joint itself.

Hip pain can also be caused by diseases and conditions in other areas of your body, such as your lower back. When pain originates in an area of the body but the feeling of pain emanates from another area, this type of pain is called referred pain.

Depending on the cause of your hip pain, chiropractic adjustments can help. Multiple studies have found that chiropractic adjustments are effective in relieving sciatica, a common cause of pain in the hip and lower back. … Some patients with hip osteoarthritis (HOA) have also benefited from chiropractic care.

If you are noticing pain when you stand or sit or both, come see us for an evaluation. We use techniques like decompression, adjusting, myofascial release, laser therapy, regenerative medicine, and clinical exercise to restore function.
