There are a number of non-surgical, non-invasive treatments that can be highly effective in treating common athletic injuries which we see at Chattanooga Non-Surgical Orthopedics on a regular basis.

Here is what one of our athlete patients had to say:

“Over a decade of pain and surgeons breathing down my neck before I found [Chattanooga Non-Surgical Orthopedics]. The first visit gave me more relief than any drug I was prescribed. They literally gave me my life back.” – Roman

Some of the most common injuries we see that high performance athletes experience include:

  • Sprains: A sprain is an injury to a ligament, which is a band of tissue that connects bones together. Sprains can occur in any joint, but they are most common in the ankles, knees, and shoulders.
  • Strains: A strain is an injury to a muscle or tendon. Tendons are bands of tissue that connect muscles to bones. Strains can occur in any muscle, but they are most common in the hamstrings, quadriceps, and calves.
  • Overuse injuries: Overuse injuries occur when a joint or muscle is used repetitively. This can lead to inflammation, pain, and decreased range of motion. Overuse injuries are common in athletes who participate in sports that involve repetitive movements, such as running, swimming, and gymnastics.

There are a number of non-surgical, non-invasive treatments that can be effective in treating common athletic injuries:

  • Rest: Rest is essential for allowing the injured area to heal. This may mean taking a break from sports or other activities that put stress on the injured area.
  • Ice: Ice helps to reduce inflammation and pain. Apply ice to the injured area for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day.
  • Compression: Compression helps to reduce swelling. Apply compression to the injured area with an elastic bandage or compression sleeve.
  • Elevation: Elevating the injured area helps to reduce swelling and pain. Keep the injured area elevated above the heart for several hours a day.

If you are a high performance athlete and you are experiencing an injury, it is important to see Dr. Jeff Hall at Chattanooga Non-Surgical Orthopedics to get the correct diagnosis and treatment. Early intervention is important for preventing further injury and allowing you to get back to your sport as quickly as possible. 423-499-0003.
