Bone and Joint Action Week: How to Stay Healthy and What to Do if You Get Injured
October 13, 2023
Bone and Joint Action Week, October 12-20, 2023, is a time to raise awareness about the importance of bone and joint health. Bones and joints support our movement and allow us to live active lives. But as we age, our bones and joints can become weaker and more susceptible to injuries.
We at Chattanooga Non-Surgical Orthopedics would like to give you some tips including a number of things you can do to keep your bones and joints healthy this month and any time of the year:
- Eat a healthy diet. Make sure to get enough calcium and vitamin D, which are essential for bone health. Good sources of calcium include dairy products, leafy green vegetables, and fortified foods. Vitamin D can be found in fatty fish, eggs, and fortified foods.
- Exercise regularly. Exercise helps to strengthen bones and muscles, and it also helps to improve balance and coordination. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.
- Maintain a healthy weight. Excess weight puts extra stress on your bones and joints.
- Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can weaken bones and increase the risk of osteoporosis.
If you do sustain a bone or joint injury, it is important to seek medical attention right away. Dr. Hall can diagnose the injury and recommend the best course of treatment, right here in our clinic, and our goal is to use our vast array of personalized treatments to keep you from having surgery or prescription pain medication.
At Chattanooga Non-Surgical Orthopedics, we specialize in treating bone and joint injuries without surgery. We offer a variety of non-surgical treatments, including:
- Regenerative medicine: Regenerative medicine treatments, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections and stem cell therapy, can help to heal injured tissues and promote healing.
- Clinical Exercise: Clinical exercise can help to strengthen muscles and improve range of motion.
- Stem Cell Injections: Injections of autologous stem cells can provide intense healing properties that are more effective than traditional methods of pain relief.
- Low Level Laser Therapy: Low Level Laser Therapy increases cellular healing, instead of cutting tissue in the manner of heat lasers, low-level lasers are used to stimulate tissue in the body to promote healing.
If you are experiencing bone or joint pain, or if you have sustained an injury, please contact Chattanooga Non-Surgical Orthopedics today. We can help you get back to living an active and pain-free life.
